Years ago there was a great series of commercials starring Michael Jordan. One that stood out to me discusses the number of times he’s failed. In it, he said he’d missed over 9000 shots. He noted there were 26 times it was up to him to make the game-winning shot and he missed. Then, he admitted that his willingness to continue risking failure is what makes him a success.
Success is a mixture of luck, talent, and the willingness to take risks. More important than succeeding every time is the ability to keep trying even when things haven’t gone your way.
So, don’t make excuses. If things don’t go as planned, pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and get back in the game.
If you’d like to see the commercial, here’s a link to it on YouTube.
